Because adventure tastes better with good coffee.

There’s something about that first sip of coffee when you’re waking up in the woods, tucked into your van, or camped out near a river that just hits different. But if you’re still settling for instant coffee on the go… it’s time for an upgrade.

Let me show you how to brew a truly exceptional cup of coffee while you’re on the road—minimal gear, no electricity required, and maximum flavor.

🔧 What You’ll Need

1. AeroPress Coffee Maker ☕

If I could only bring one coffee item on the road, this would be it. It’s lightweight, compact, and makes an incredibly smooth cup of coffee in under 3 minutes. ➡️ Get the AeroPress here

1.1 AeroPress Control Filter Cap (Optional but Amazing)

This is a game-changer. It gives you more control over your flow rate and pressure, which is ideal for dialing in flavor. ➡️ Check out the filter cap

2. Coffee Scale ⚖️ (Optional)

Precision matters if you want café-quality coffee. But if you're using the AeroPress scoop, it’s about 15g of beans. Still, I recommend a travel-sized digital scale. ➡️ View my go-to travel coffee scale

3. High-Quality Coffee Beans

Skip the grocery store shelf coffee. Find a local roastery while traveling—it’s a great way to support small businesses and discover unique blends that reflect the region.

4. Water Kettle (Optional but Helpful)

You can technically heat water any way you want, but using a temperature-controlled kettle lets you dial in your brew to the perfect temp for the roast. ➡️ This compact kettle is road-trip ready

5. Your Favorite Coffee Cup (Optional)

Coffee tastes better in your favorite mug—science (probably). ➡️ Here’s mine

6. Manual Coffee Grinder

Sure, you could use an electric one, but grinding by hand is part of the ritual. It’s grounding. ➡️ Budget-friendly grinder ➡️ Top-tier grinder for true coffee nerds

📝 How to Brew the Perfect Cup

  1. Prep your AeroPress: Use two standard filters or a reusable metal filter, and affix it to the AeroPress base.

  2. Weigh your beans: Measure out 15 grams of coffee (or use 1 level AeroPress scoop).Pro tip: spritz the beans lightly with water to eliminate static before grinding.

  3. Start heating your water: If you want to measure ahead of time, you’ll need 250g (about 1 cup) of water.

  4. Dial in your temp:

    • Light & medium roasts: 195°F

    • Dark roasts: 185°F

  5. Grind your beans: Go for a medium-fine grind, then get a little arm workout with your manual grinder.

  6. Add the grounds to your AeroPress and place it over your mug.

  7. Bloom: Pour about 30g of hot water (just enough to cover the grinds) and let it bloom for 30 seconds.

  8. Brew: Pour the rest of your water over the grounds, stir with the AeroPress stirrer, and insert the plunger. Let it sit for 2 minutes.

  9. Press: Slowly press down the plunger until you hear a hiss.

  10. Enjoy: Add your favorite fixings (or not), take in the view, and sip your perfect on-the-road brew.

☀️ Final Sip

Great coffee doesn’t require a full kitchen or a barista badge. With just a few simple tools and a little intention, you can elevate your mornings on the road—and start each adventure wide-eyed and well-caffeinated.
